This is really Block #5, but it is the third one I've made.
I used one of the other blocks for the bud placement and that's what you see underneath. This was a rather chunky block and I decided to lace it a bit more and made the center larger. I think I'll use it as my signature block. I also decided to set it on point. Otherwise the corners came too close to the buds for me.

Block 5 - French General - Broderie Perse
I think I have learned my lesson about putting off the rosebuds. I had four blocks to do them on. I certainly don't want to wait until I have 20 blocks to add them on. And I don't want to not do them. I am now caught up with blocks 5, 6. I still haven't decided how many blocks I will do in total.....so I am holding off on the borders. But I am enjoying this journey.

Block 5
I couldn't resist tweaking this block. I re-drew it to be pointier and curvier. It was totally worth the extra fabric to line up the print pattern. I'm so happy having a project for the red batiks I've been collecting over the past couple years.

Block 5
Thought I'd get a bit more poison green in this one to balance out the mixture of fabrics in the other blocks I've made.

I'm really enjoying working with these colours but isn't it great to see all the variation of fabric choices in the other posts? I've not done a BOM before but it is such a treat to see all the lovely possibilities of fabrics and colours.
