Here is my finished Block 3. I am doing the blocks at 12 " and decided to embroider those tiny cherry stems. I used 1/4" bias for the circle and 1/8 " bias for the leaf stems but decided a touch of embroidery would be fine. I had forgotten how difficult it is for me, to needleturn Kona solids like those used in the corner leaves and cherries. It seems a bit thicker and looser woven than some of the other fabrics so I had a bit of difficulty there but overall I am happy. I am just thrilled to be able to make this one out of my stash!
Just gorgeous! The embroidery works really well - a little chain stitch?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful block, good idea to embroider the berry stems.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is fabulous. I've had to embroider a few stem for my Love Entwined. Looks like I'll have to do that for this block also. Gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteI think the embroidery is a wonderful addition.
I too, have begun to received these patterns, I could only hope to one day applique as beautiful as you've done. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous block! I love the fabrics everyone has and also like how you embroidered stems for the smaller version block. I have been collecting the patterns but have not decided if I will make this quilt. I feel my red & green palette is very limited and although I am always on the look out for these fabrics, I don't find much. We'll see.
